How ABA works here

A plan with you.
Not just for you.

ABA uses behavior science to teach useful, everyday skills. At the Village it looks like play, because for a child, play is where learning sticks.

  1. Practice.

Real skills in real moments: asking for a turn, getting dressed, saying hello. Short, playful reps, many times a day.

  2. Learn.

We measure what works. Every session adds data, and every week your BCBA reads it with you, in plain words.

  3. Adjust.

Goals move as your child grows. The plan is yours to shape, and nothing is set in stone.

What we work on

Meaningful skills.
Everyday wins.

Areas to explore with your BCBA, not a checklist to complete. Every plan starts with what your family wants more of.

  • Communication

Words, signs, pictures and devices. Whatever helps your child be understood.

  • Everyday skills

Dressing, eating, sleeping, toileting and getting out the door on time.

  • Play & friends

Sharing, turn-taking and the joy of playing with someone else.

  • Emotions & behavior

Big feelings, safer choices and calmer transitions.

  • School readiness

Sitting, listening, following routines and asking for help.

  • Family routines

Strategies that fit your home, your mornings and your weekends.

Parents are on the team

You’re not watching
from the hallway.

Parent coaching is part of every plan. The strategies we use in a session come home with you the same day, in words you can use at dinner, at bedtime and in the car.

Your BCBA meets with you every week. You see the goals, the data and what to try next, and you can change course any time.

Milestones

Every visit
lights a window.

Progress is made of small moments. We celebrate effort and courage, never compliance, and your child decides which sticker goes on the card.

  • I tried.
  • I asked for help.
  • I waited my turn.
  • I used my words.
  • I kept going.

Sample phrases. The clinical team approves every sticker before print.

Where we work

Clinic. School.
Home.

The same team and the same plan, in the setting where the skill is needed. What changes is the pace and who is in the room.

In clinic

Sessions in our El Dorado Hills rooms, with the rest of your child’s team down the hall and a quiet space for parent coaching.

At school

Behavior support inside the school day, coordinated with teachers and IEP goals, with your consent and your school’s.

At home

Skills practised where they matter most, with parents on the team from the first visit, so progress carries into dinner, bedtime and the car.

Behavioral Health, beyond ABA

Notice. Understand.
Work together.

Not every family needs a full ABA program. Our behavioral health team, BCBAs and RBTs working alongside our other three service lines, also offers assessments, caregiver coaching and school collaboration, so the support fits the situation.

Understanding behavior

Functional behavior assessments and individualized plans that start with what’s happening around the behavior, not assumptions.

Caregiver partnership

Parent and caregiver coaching, home strategies and support that fits your daily life.

School collaboration

Coordination with school teams, IEP goals and behavior intervention plans, with your consent.

Practical questions

Know what
comes next.

What does a first session look like?
Mostly play. Your BCBA watches how your child communicates, what they love and what’s hard right now, then starts building the plan from there. You’re in the room.
How do we get started?
Call us or send a two-minute request. A brief phone screening helps us understand your child, check your coverage and find the right next step.
What about insurance and payment?
ABA is covered by most California plans and by Medi-Cal; it usually needs a diagnosis report and prior authorization. Our team walks you through it. Insurance & payment
Do we have to choose ABA before calling?
No. Tell us what’s going on and we’ll explain the options across all four service lines, so the plan fits your child, not the other way around.
